While on the phone today with Derek Presnall, he mentioned twice that a new Tilly and the Wall album is coming soon.
“We recorded a Tilly and the Wall record last year through the fall. We did it in sections up until the New Year − we finished it right after the New Year, actually,” Presnall said. “Mike Mogis produced it, recorded it, engineered it.”
It will come out on Team Love in mid-September, he said, despite the label cutting back. It’s no secret that the band’s been making new music, but this is the first I’ve heard of anything official or any news resembling a release date. (They did recently shoot a music video.)
I, for one, can’t wait to hear the new music. It will be the first Tilly album since “O” came out in 2008.
Presnall’s currently anticipating the July 17 release of his new album with Icky Blossoms, his dance-rock-pop band with Nik Fackler and Sarah Bohling. You can pre-order the band’s self-titled album from Saddle Creek Records right here. You can also download a copy of the band’s dance anthem, “Babes.”
