Man, there’s some cool local shows going on tonight. It may necessitate me stopping at some or all of them as the night goes on.
I recommend you do the same.
» Dan McCarthy’s going to play piano at Pageturners between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. tonight. Pageturners’ tweet said bottles of wine are also 20 percent off tonight.
» Over at Slowdown, the Jake Bellows Band will play a show with Mal Madrigal and Our Fox. It’s sort of a reunion show since most of the key players of those groups don’t actually live in town. When Bellows and his pals last played, I really dug the show. It should be a good one. $8 cover. 9 p.m. show.
» Also tonight is the debut of Little Brazil sans former drummer Oliver Morgan. Matt Baum of Desaparecidos is apparently filling in tonight and for a few more gigs. The band’s also expected to have some new material. Also of note is the debut of the Brigadiers, a new band featuring Vic Padios, Shane Lamson, Mark Weber and Clint Schnase. The Sons of the Waiting Room and John Klemmensen & the Party open the gig. $7 cover. 9 p.m. show.
