The Pinewood Bowl is back, and I think that’s wonderful.
The first concert and Lincoln’s scenic outdoor venue will be Alice In Chains with Bullet For My Valentine and Halestorm on May 24.
Man, is that venue pretty. The only show I made it to last summer was My Morning Jacket and Band of Horses, and it was fantastic. The sound was great and it looked like the kind of venue you imagine when someone says “outdoor concert.”
In my review of that show, I called the place “near-perfect.” Frankly, it would be perfect if I didn’t have to drive to Lincoln to check it out (not that I have a problem with that… Just, ya know, convenience).
Alice In Chains is best known for songs such as “No Excuses” and “Heaven Beside You,” before original lead singer Layne Staley died in 2002. The band’s popularity bounced back with 2009′s “Black Gives Way to Blue” and the group has released a new single, “Hollow.” Check that out below.
Tickets to the concert, $39.50 in advance and $45 day of show, go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at www.ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster retail outlets, the Pershing Center box office and by phone at 800-745-3000.
Pinewood Bowl hosted six concerts in 2012, which included performances by My Morning Jacket, Train and Crosby, Stills & Nash.
